Kevin Carlson has lived most of his life in Madison, Indiana and
has painted for that long as well. He had his first oil painting lesson
when he was 10 years old and hasn’t looked back since. He
graduated Purdue University with a B.A. majoring in the Fine Arts.
In 1986 he opened his own sign business, Carlson Art & Sign.

In 1998 he joined the newly formed Indiana Plein Air Painters Association(IPAPA), a group dedicated to painting outdoors and has become a passionate award winning plein air artist. Working in most media but preferring to paint in oils, pastels or watercolor. While most of his subjects has been landscapes he also does still lifes and portraits and has been known to do surrealistic work as well.
